Shiraz


 

Shiraz,one of the oldest cities of ancient Persia,is located in the southwest of Iran and is the capital of Fars province and also the sixth most populous city in Iran.

 It was the heart of the Achaemenian Empire (559-330BC),which was found by Cyrus the Great who chose Pasargadae as his empire’s capital. Darius moved the capital to nearby Persepolis in the late 5th or early 6th century BC.

 This city is a significant tourist destinations as it was one of the most important cities in the medieval Islamic world and was the Iranian capital during the Zand dynasty (AD 1747–79),when many of its most stunning buildings were built or renovated.

 Shiraz is the city of poetry as it has seen some of the greatest poets of Persia throughout the history like Hafez and Sa’di and is considered as the city of flowers and majestic gardens,exquisite mosques and outstanding arts.
